For those of you living in a cave back in 2012, the Penguin Algorithm is an update that Google lunched on April 2012 that shacked the SEO community to its knees. It was an update that targeted “over optimization” techniques performed by SEO professionals.
Targeting mainly “spam” techniques such as excessive keyword targeting or keyword stuffing as it is now referred to. People still using these kind of methods should if not already change to more contextual based keyword techniques, that will help your page rank more naturally in search engine results.
About a week ago, speculations have risen in the SEO community that another penguin refresh is coming in 2014. There are many theories as to what this update will bring but we all seem to agree that it will increase the frequency of the penguin algorithm, and how it penalizes sites as well as possible faster recoveries from sites that have dropped all their former “black-hat” techniques.
Further updates to come as we have more information. Stay tuned with us!!
